Unveiling an Unusual Steam Demo: Guiding a Poop with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have discovered plenty of entertaining creations from small studios. Yet, one is particularly notable for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game lets you play a hero that is literally a piece of poop trying to navigate to a restroom. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

Player controls is easy to grasp: just use a one button to leap. Throughout one hundred fifty challenges, encounter boss fights and visit a store to purchase customizations for your dung hero.

Execute your movements with caution, since one error means starting over. Jump using floating orbs to propel your character upward, navigate disappearing platforms, and touch switches to open secret routes. Collect coins for buying tougher stages as things gets crazy.

Graphically, the game features vibrant stages and catchy soundtrack. The simple art of moving geometric shapes may remind gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

While it's difficult to name other games where you play as a coiled turd, video games frequently featured toilet humor. For example, in Death Stranding, you can create grenades from character excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as plant food. Unsurprisingly, fecal references is present extensively in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already garnered significant accolades, like taking top honors at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is accessible currently on Steam, with the full game scheduled to launch on computers in the fall.
